Jamiyla L. Ferguson

Founder • Relationship Coach • Psychology & Counselling Graduate • Relationship Astrologer • Tarot Reader • Writer

Jamiyla L. Ferguson, also known artistically as Layla, is the founder, CEO and director of Poem Stellium, an independent online publication bringing together creative writing, mental health, narrative art and astrology.

With a BA in Counselling Integrative Therapy, Jamiyla’s work is informed by her education in counselling, psychology and human behaviour, alongside years of independent study and professional and creative experience. Her interests span relationships, attachment, emotional wellbeing, communication, self-awareness and the psychological patterns that shape how people relate to themselves and others.

Today, her work brings together three areas that have long existed alongside one another in her life: psychology, relationships and spirituality.

As a relationship coach, Jamiyla explores the dynamics that influence connection — from communication and emotional patterns to boundaries, attachment and relational behaviour. Her approach encourages reflection and self-awareness while recognising that relationships are rarely understood through a single lens.

Alongside this, Jamiyla is a self-taught astrologer specialising in relationship astrology, using natal charts, synastry and planetary symbolism to explore personality and interpersonal dynamics. She is also a seasoned tarot reader with nearly a decade of experience, using tarot as a reflective and intuitive practice for insight, perspective and guidance.

Rather than treating psychology and spirituality as interchangeable, Jamiyla allows each to occupy its own space within her work. Psychological and counselling concepts are approached through education and reflection, while astrology and tarot are explored as spiritual and symbolic practices. Together, they reflect her broader curiosity about human behaviour, relationships, meaning and the many ways people seek to understand themselves.

Creative Work

Creativity remains central to Jamiyla’s work.

As a writer, she is the author of Trauma and Dissociation and The Year I Sat Still, works exploring emotional experience, transformation and the complexities of our inner worlds. Her poetry and songwriting, shared under the artistic name Layla, give language to experiences and emotions that are often difficult to articulate.

She is also a photographer whose work centres presence, storytelling and the emotional character of ordinary moments.

Through Poem Stellium, Jamiyla brings these interests together on a wider scale, creating a platform where writing, mental health, creativity and self-exploration can coexist.

The Journey Deeper

Jamiyla’s relationship with words began in childhood. Writing came naturally and eventually became more than creative expression; it became a way of processing experience, asking questions and making meaning from what she encountered.

That curiosity about the inner world would eventually extend beyond writing.

Her interest in psychology and human behaviour led her into formal study, culminating in a Bachelor of Arts in Counselling Integrative Therapy. Studying an integrative approach exposed her to different psychological perspectives and reinforced something that continues to influence her work today: there is rarely one single framework capable of explaining the entirety of human experience.

Her relationship with astrology developed along a different path.

A lifelong fascination with the cosmos eventually became devoted independent study. What began with horoscopes and birth charts grew into a deeper exploration of natal astrology, planetary symbolism and, particularly, the dynamics revealed through relationship astrology.

“As a child, I was always drawn to gazing out of the window and staring at the stars. It felt instinctive — as though it was meant to be. I even read my horoscope religiously in the newspapers.”

Tarot later became another part of her spiritual practice and eventually developed into a way of offering others intuitive guidance and perspective.

Today, Jamiyla’s work reflects all of these influences rather than asking her to choose between them.

Psychology gives her a framework for exploring human behaviour. Counselling informs the way she listens and communicates. Coaching focuses on growth and relationships. Astrology offers a symbolic lens. Tarot provides an intuitive one. Creativity gives her a language through which to express it all.

Across her work as a founder, coach, writer, astrologer and reader, the thread remains consistent: curiosity about people — how we think, how we feel, how we relate, and how we come to understand ourselves.
