A writing circle for adult survivors of sexual abuse or sexual assault to reclaim their voices and begin (or continue) their healing through words.
Layla experienced sexual abuse and sexual assault in childhood and adolescence. She knows the silence, the weight, and the long path of rebuilding.
Today, she shares both her story and her integrative counselling therapy skills to create a space where survivors can write, reflect, and connect—without judgment and at their own pace.
My Goal for These Sessions
My goal is that you leave each session feeling a little lighter, less weighed down by what you’ve been carrying, and more connected to your own strength.
In this safe, non-judgmental space, you can release what has been repressed, explore your story, and find confidence in yourself.
These sessions are about understanding that what happened was not your fault and beginning to transform even the most traumatic experiences into resilience, insight, and creative power.
What to Expect
Small, intimate groups – limited to 10 participants for a sense of safety and care.
Your pace, your choice – cameras and microphones are optional; you can listen quietly or share when ready.
Grounding & mindfulness – singing bowls, gentle grounding exercises, and optional meditation to stay present.
Creative freedom – write for yourself; sharing is always optional.
Optional publication – you may submit your writing for possible inclusion in a collective publication—under your own name, a pen name, or anonymously.
One-to-One Sessions
Prefer a private space? From time to time, Layla may open a small number of individual writing sessions for those who would rather not join a group. Details will be shared when these sessions become available.
Practical Details
Survivors Write sessions began in January 2026 and are currently held every two months to allow participants time for reflection, personal writing, and emotional processing between gatherings.
Cost: Some sessions are free, while others may be donation-based or paid to help keep the work sustainable.
Language: English
Age: 18+ only
Please Note
These gatherings are a creative, supportive space and are not a substitute for therapy.
You may encounter triggering emotions; please join only if you feel ready and take breaks as needed.
Together we write—not to erase the past, but to reclaim our voices and our power.
