Junaid Ahmed’s Birth Chart: A Look at the TOWIE Star Through Astrology

If you watch The Only Way Is Essex, aka TOWIE, then you’ll probably be familiar with Junaid Ahmed. I’ve been watching him for a while, and naturally, being an astrologer, I eventually ended up looking at his birth chart.

There are a few placements that immediately caught my attention.

I don’t have Junaid’s exact birth time, so I’m not going to attempt to definitively interpret his rising sign or houses. But even without those, his planetary placements give us plenty to talk about.

Junaid is a Sagittarius Sun with a Gemini Moon, Sagittarius Mercury, Scorpio Venus and Virgo Mars. He also has his North Node in Scorpio, close to his Venus.

And honestly? Some of this makes a lot of sense when you think about the person we’ve watched on TOWIE.

Sagittarius Sun and Mercury: Living in His Truth

One of the things I find particularly interesting about Junaid is his Sagittarius energy.

Sagittarius is associated with truth, belief, philosophy, freedom and expanding beyond the worldview we’ve inherited. At its best, Sagittarius wants to understand life for itself rather than simply accepting what it has been told to believe.

Junaid has spoken publicly about being a gay Muslim man and about the difficulties he has experienced with his family not accepting him.

There’s something quite striking to me about someone with prominent Sagittarius energy having to navigate the tension between inherited beliefs and living openly as themselves.

Sagittarius eventually has to find its own truth.

And in many ways, that’s exactly what we’ve watched Junaid do publicly.

His Mercury is also in Sagittarius, and this is another placement that stands out when I think about how he’s perceived on the show.

Junaid has a sharp tongue.

People have criticised the way he communicates, and Sagittarius Mercury can certainly be blunt. Sagittarius is fire. It doesn’t always stop to soften the message before delivering it.

Sometimes that honesty is refreshing.

Other times, it burns.

That Gemini Moon

Then we get to his Gemini Moon.

This one made me laugh a little because there have been plenty of conversations surrounding Junaid being “two-faced” or people feeling as though there’s another side to him.

Now, having a Gemini Moon does not automatically make somebody two-faced.

But Gemini is mutable, dual energy. Gemini contains different perspectives, different voices and different ways of responding to its environment.

At its more unconscious or shadow expression, that adaptability can sometimes become inconsistency. Someone may behave differently depending on who they’re around, what they’re feeling or what information they’re working with at that particular moment.

To other people, that can feel like: Which version of you am I getting today?

With self-awareness, however, Gemini’s duality can become one of its strengths. These are people capable of seeing situations from several different angles rather than remaining psychologically fixed in one position.

So I don’t look at his Gemini Moon and think, Well, there we go. He’s two-faced.

I look at it and understand why people may experience that duality in him.

Venus in Scorpio: Junaid Doesn’t Love Lightly

His Venus in Scorpio is probably one of my favourite placements to look at in his chart.

Venus tells us something about how we relate, what we value, what attracts us and how we experience love.

And Scorpio doesn’t do surface-level intimacy particularly well.

Scorpio wants depth.

It wants trust.

It wants emotional honesty.

It wants to know what’s underneath everything.

When Venus is here, relationships can become incredibly transformative. Love isn’t necessarily something separate from the individual’s personal evolution. Relationships can change them.

And Junaid’s Venus is particularly interesting because it sits close to his North Node in Scorpio.

Venus Conjunct the North Node in Scorpio

The North Node speaks to the direction of growth within the birth chart, and Scorpio isn’t necessarily an easy North Node to have.

Scorpio asks for transformation.

It asks you to shed skins.

It asks you to confront uncomfortable truths, experience endings and beginnings, become vulnerable, understand intimacy and learn what it really means to merge with another person without losing your own power.

There’s often something incredibly powerful about people who learn to embody their Scorpio North Node, but getting there can require profound personal transformation.

When Venus is connected to that journey, relationships can become part of the story.

That’s why I find Junaid’s relationship with Joe particularly interesting.

He’s now in his early thirties, he’s been through the period of his Saturn return, and he’s in a serious relationship with someone he’s planning to marry.

Of course, astrology doesn’t mean that one placement guarantees somebody will meet “the one.” But I do find it interesting that partnership appears to be playing such an important role during this stage of his life when his natal Venus is so closely connected with his North Node.

When Junaid loves deeply, I imagine he really does merge.

What Happened Around His Saturn Return?

His age also immediately made me think about Saturn.

The first Saturn return happens around the late twenties into the early thirties and often coincides with a period of restructuring adulthood.

Relationships can change. Careers can change. Friendships can fall away. Responsibilities become more real. Things that aren’t sustainable have a habit of becoming much harder to ignore.

Junaid is now 31, which means he’s come through this significant astrological maturation period.

I’d love to know his exact birth time because I’d particularly like to see where Saturn falls by house in his chart and what was being activated during his Saturn return.

Considering what he’s publicly said about his previous experiences with relationships compared with where he is now, I’d be very interested to see whether Saturn has significant relationship symbolism in his timed chart.

Could Junaid Be a Leo Rising?

Now this part is completely speculative.

I don’t have his birth time, so I’m not saying Junaid is a Leo rising.

But I’ve wondered about it.

If he were a Leo rising, Scorpio would fall across his fourth house in Whole Sign houses.

The fourth house deals with home, family, roots and our private foundations.

Considering what Junaid has shared publicly about his family relationships and the pain surrounding not feeling accepted, I’d find Scorpio occupying that area of his chart extremely interesting.

Again, without a birth time, that’s simply an astrological thought rather than something I’m claiming as part of his chart.

But if his birth time ever becomes public, that’s one of the first things I’d want to check.

There Is More to Junaid’s Chart Than the Drama

Reality television naturally gives us edited fragments of people’s personalities.

We see arguments, friendships, relationships, fallouts and reconciliation, but we’re still watching selected pieces of somebody’s life.

That’s why I don’t think astrology should be used to reduce Junaid to being “two-faced”, “dramatic” or having a “sharp tongue.”

Those traits might be what people notice first on television, but his chart contains a much more interesting story about identity, truth, intimacy and transformation.

The Sagittarius wants to live according to its own truth.

The Gemini Moon contains complexity and contradiction.

The Scorpio Venus wants intimacy with depth.

And that Scorpio North Node asks for transformation, even when transformation isn’t comfortable.

Considering some of what Junaid Ahmed has already publicly shared about his journey, those are the parts of his chart that interest me far more than the drama.

Now I need to look at Joe’s chart.

And, obviously, their synastry.
